It’s with deep sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Treyton Lara.
This past Sunday, October 4, Trey collapsed at the 20-mile marker of the Portland Marathon from sudden cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the hospital, surrounded by his wife Audrey and family, when the word came that he had gone to be with the Lord. He was just shy of his 25th birthday.
Trey was so full of life and lived intentionally every day.
He loved film, kept an active Letterboxd account, ate popcorn like it was a delicacy, collected clothes like works of art, and had a unique sense of style. He was a coffee purist, a foodie, an incredible chef, and had an eye for photography. He could make friends with anyone and had an unmatched sense of humor.
His confidence was unshakable and his faith unwavering.
His faith was his defining feature. It has spoken the loudest to those who knew him, whether they spent years with him, months with him, or even just a single day. They recognized that Trey’s faith and passion for advancing the Kingdom of God were at the center of his life.
He was devoted to his family and friends. He loved his wife, Audrey, from the moment he met her. His sisters, Jaylah and Sylvia, had the best role model in an older brother, and his parents, Omar and Misty, had the most devoted son. The man Trey became directly reflected the values they instilled in him.
This GoFundMe supports Audrey and the Lara family and helps provide for their needs during this difficult time. Donations will help cover funeral and burial expenses, hospital bills, extended bereavement, and any other expenses that may arise as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
We thank you for thinking of the family during this time of heartache. So many of you have shared in their grief, lifted them in prayer, and offered your support, and they are deeply grateful. Please continue to keep the Lara family in your prayers as they mourn.
