Trevor's Medical Emergency: Your Help Needed
Spende geschützt
For those who know Trevor, you know that he is a loving, energetic, and busy individual. He is in need of temporary financial assistance due to a recent and urgent situation.
Trevor had an unexpected event occur that was life-threatening. His esophagus perforated (tore) EXTENSIVELY, and he didn't know it. He continued to work out, exercise, and work, and had no idea. He has been working with a personal trainer to better himself, and for the past several weeks to a month, food has been moving from his esophagus into his lung cavity (his pleural space).
Not one week ago, he posted a video to his Instagram showing how hard he had been working to build his health, his body, and prepare to compete, only to wake up on Thursday, June 4, with difficulty breathing. Turns out - his lung had collapsed due to the pressure created by this food continuously moving into that lung cavity undetected.
He went to his local hospital, and when they put in an emergent chest tube, the infection 'spewed' out of him onto the doctor placing it; it was that bad. They transported him to Loyola, where he was rushed to surgery.
Here is the fortunate thing. Trevor is strong and healthy. So his prognosis is good. Here is the unfortunate thing. He was in surgery for 7 hours and, quite honestly, could have died from this situation. He now has several (this is insane that I'm saying this as it's just crazy to me, even as a nurse!) chest tubes - 3 on the left side, one on the right. He has several IVs, an arterial line, an NG (feeding tube) running from his nose to his stomach to perform suction, and they took him in for a SECOND surgery Friday to put in a PEG (stomach) feeding tube. He also has an epidural to manage the pain due to so many chest tubes.
At this point, I'm not even sure HE realizes the gravity of the situation. His esophagus was so torn that the doctor could not even repair it in the manner he typically does, so the repair was precarious, at best. He will be in the ICU for "awhile". That is all they can give us right now.
The medical bills will be ASTRONOMICAL, but that can be dealt with later. We'd like to know that he can keep his home in his absence and make his monthly bills to take that stress off, allowing him to focus on his healing, recovery, and getting better. If you have even $5.00, it would be greatly appreciated to help take this stress off of him.
Additionally, all prayers are welcome and appreciated for a good recovery.
