Scott Tingle (Purdue ME '88) and his multi-national crew of 3 will be launching to the International Space Station on December 17th, 2017 aboard a Soyuz rocket, and I have been given the incredible opportunity to attend with his closest family/friends. They will launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on the steppe of Kazakhstan (just a few hours from Moscow, Russia) with his closest family/friends.
It truly is the opportunity of a lifetime!
With that said, the cost of the trip is expensive. I will need to raise $5,500 by 11:59 PM ET on Friday November 3rd, so I'll need your generous support to make it happen.
I'll definitely be bringing my camera...so there will be lots of photos - as always!
This is like any other photo trip/adventure/project I've ever planned before.
The funds will be used to pay for:
- $1,000 Flight to/from Moscow
- $4,000 from Moscow to the Baikonur Cosmodrome (launch site), all accommodations near the launch site, and back.
- $500 for food and other miscellaneous trip expenses.
Anyone that donates $25 or more will receive a hand-written letter from me at the conclusion of the trip.
If my campaign succeeeds beyond $5,500, donations will be put toward these future photography projects I have:
- Nov 2017: Antares OA-8 Launch from NASA's Wallops Island, VA
- Nov 2017: SpaceX "ZUMA" rocket launch
- Dec 2017: SpaceX CRS-13 rocket launch
- late-Dec 2017: SpaceX Falcon Heavy Launch
- Feb 2018: Yosemite National Park Horsetail Firefall
- 2018: Lake Superior Lighthouses
If this campaign doesn't reach my goal of $5,500, I won't be able to make the trip happen.
GoFundMe, however, allows me to keep all the donations I receive. If this happens, all donations will be used for the aforementioned photo projects. ^
If you'd like to help support me and these photography projects on a regular basis, here is a link to my Patreon page!
NASA will soon be launching astronauts again from Florida's Kennedy Space Center via the Commercial Crew Program and the window for an opportunity like this is closing very quickly. Your support would mean the world to me.
I am currently pursuing a personal project goal of capturing each and every lighthouse surrounding Lake Michigan this 2017 calendar year.
Wanna see how the project is going?
Here's my progress map!
