Trevor Hawk Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amber & I am helping my sweet friend, Beth McDowell raise funds for a memorial for her son, Trevor, whom we lost way too soon...& the son he leaves behind, Lu. Please read on below & help should your heart move you to...no parent should ever lose a child...
Trevor Jeremiah Hawk lived a loud, passionate, and fierce life that was far too short; a mere 24 yrs, 7 months and 8 days. His joy and brightness were irresistible. Practically as soon as he could walk, he was jumping off of, over, into, and through anything he could find. He was truly fearless.
Music was also a passion of Trevor’s from a young age. He was given his first toy electric drum set at the age of four. Trevor would go on to play on a real drum kit and even played the drums in a few shows in front of cheering, live audiences at the Knitting Factory; a dream come true for Trevor.
Unfortunately, Trevor was also a deeply tortured soul and his brightness had a dark side that he was able to hide from most people who knew him. It was that darkness that caused his light to burn out too quickly. Trevor tragically passed away from a fentanyl overdose on Dec 21, 2022.
While he only lived 24 years, 7 months, his mom chooses to see it from the perspective that he truly lived his life to the fullest, 24/7.
Trevor is survived by his son Lucas (the light of his life, whom he called his “sun”), his grandparents Don Grotjohn and Ruthie Heiser, mother Beth and stepfather Ryan McDowell, father Eric Hawk, older brother Tad Catlin, younger sisters Lauren and Logan Hawk, younger brother Brayden Marsh-McDowell, and girlfriend Faithe Manning (the love of his life, whom he called his moon and stars). He is also loved and cherished by much more extended family and dear friends.
Now as these loved ones take time to mourn & heal, we take comfort that Trevor has finally found eternal peace.
Being so young, there was no savings or plan for final expenses…let alone for his son’s future.
Funds raised will be used for Trevor’s final expenses, which are already into the thousands, as well as celebrations of his life. They will also be used to help family members travel to Pacific City, Oregon and Robie Creek near Idaho City later this year. The family plans to scatter portions of Trevor’s remains in these two locations that were very meaningful to him and would like to have as many family members and siblings there who may not be able to afford the travel on their own. Any additional funds will be set aside for the future needs of his son, affectionately referred to as Lu.
PRAYERS & SHARES are equally appreciated!!
Please read Trevor’s obituary below, written lovingly by his mom Beth and stepdad Ryan.
Obituary for Trevor Jeremiah Hawk
Trevor was born on May 13, 1998, in Hillsboro, Oregon to parents Eric and Beth Hawk (Beth McDowell). He lived a tumultuous and tragically short life, but found eternal peace on December 21, 2022.
He lived his early childhood in Beaverton and later Springfield, Oregon, until moving to Boise, ID with his mom and two younger sisters, Lauren and Logan, at the age of four. Trevor had an energetic spirit and was active in sports, music, and outdoor activities like skateboarding, hiking, and camping. He played numerous sports including little league t-ball and baseball, basketball, and soccer as a little dude, then football at Idaho City High School and Borah High School. From a young age, Trevor would jump off of, into, through or over anything he could find. This fearless spirit followed him into adulthood.
Trevor enjoyed visiting his grandfather, Don Grotjohn, on the Oregon Coast and during his many visits would enjoy ocean fishing, bobber-fishing for huge salmon on the Nestucca River or even donning a wetsuit and catching some waves on a surfboard. He also took several memorable trips with his family and friends to various parts of Idaho, as well as Lagoon amusement park and Disneyland.
Music was a passion of Trevor’s from a young age. He was self-taught and naturally talented on guitar and drums. He was given his first toy drum set at the age of four. He would often ask his mom to take him to the local musical instrument store to bang on their full-sized kit. Trevor would go on to play with a band in a few shows in front of cheering, live audiences at the Knitting Factory; a dream come true for Trevor.
Beginning at age 13, Trevor spent a couple of years at a boy’s youth ranch in Rexford, Montana where he received the direction and masculine leadership that his mom couldn’t provide him. There he forged a strong bond with a father figure, “Uncle” Dan Harrell. They remained close friends long after Trevor came home from Montana.
Following a decision to leave high school early, Trevor struggled to find his path forward, working a variety of short-term jobs before finding his footing as a construction worker. Most recently, Trevor was working successfully as a commercial pipe layer and was praised by his employers for his attention to detail, reliability, and his strong work ethic.
Many demons plagued Trevor during his abbreviated life, the worst being drug and alcohol addiction. Trevor ultimately lost his life to a fentanyl overdose.
Trevor is survived by his son Lucas (the light of his life, whom he called his “sun”), his grandparents Don Grotjohn and Ruthie Heiser, mother Beth and stepfather Ryan McDowell, father Eric Hawk, older brother Tad Catlin, younger sisters Lauren Hawk and Logan Hawk, younger brother, Brayden Marsh-McDowell and girlfriend Faithe Manning (the love of his life, whom he called his moon and stars). He is also loved and cherished by much more extended family and dear friends. We will always treasure every moment we had with Trevor and keep his memory alive in our hearts. Fly high, Trevor Hawk. We miss you terribly, but we’ll fly with you again one day.
Memorial for Trevor Hawk will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 1pm-4pm at The Cremation Society of Idaho, 5541 W Overland Rd. Boise, ID. The memorial will be drop-in open house style, light refreshments will be served. Anyone who cared for Trevor, knew him, worked with him, and would just like to honor his brief life, are welcome to come. **Our family would love to have you write down a special memory you have of him in our guest/memory book**
There will also be a candlelight vigil to follow at Settlers Park, 3245 N Meridian Rd, Meridian at around 6pm. More info to come on the precise location within the park.
{Please note: if your shared experiences were from the world of using drugs with him, please find another time, place, and way to remember him than at this event. Thank you for your understanding.}
