My name is Andrew Harris. You may not know me. It's more likely you know my brother, Trevor Harris. His photos and story have been posted and shared across the internet these last sixteen days.
A little over two weeks ago today, Trevor was diagnosed with Necrotizing Pancreatitis and flown by helicopter to University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO. Upon his arrival, things were not looking good for Trevor. Most of his immediate family, including myself, were on the road when we got a call from one of the ICU Doctors working on Trevor. We all thought we were driving to UCH to say goodbye.
Trevor's older brother Chris, who was unable to join us in Aurora because a family flu, decided to do all he could from home. Every day he shared Trevor's story with updates on his weakening condition. He asked many of you to share Trevor's story and to pray for a miracle.
For three days, while Trevor remained on life support, we slept in shifts to be sure that Trevor was never alone. Though he was unconscious, we all spoke to him, urging him to fight through it. He began improving slowly.
Chris informed us that his online updates were reaching thousands of people, many churches, some even out of country. We received prayers, healing energies and good vibrations from all over. This news filled us with hope.
The next few days were full of hope as Trevor made huge strides to eventually breathe on his own. Trevor's girlfriend Kassie and I spent a total week at Trevor's side along with our parents, Mary and Phil Harris. His mom remained with him another week as he battled infection, high fevers and delerium. This was no easier to witness. With some minor procedures, his Doctors were able to diminish his infection and ween his medications. Just days ago Trevor spoke to us clearly for the first time in two weeks.
We are finally at a point where we see some light at the end of this tunnel. Though he is still fighting infections, we are taking steps forward. So is Trevor. He has been taking walks with the help of nurses and is back to eating solid foods. This journey isn't over yet as he faces a difficult road to recovery.
Trevor lives with his girlfriend Kassie and her son Nicolaus (part time) and their lovely cats. Trevor and Kassie both worked full time before this ordeal. Trevor will most likely be spending 1 to 3 more weeks hospitalized. When he returns home, he will be weak and need time for recovery. This recovery period is unknown to us. Of course he will have family to help and most importantly Kassie, but he will be out of work for some time.
We are asking for donations to help with living expenses. Our goal is $5000 but i will leave it open until Trevor is back on his feet. We know you all have given us so much already. Your thoughts and prayers, you healing vibrations and your love. We can't even come close to expressing our gratefulness for the spiritual and emotional support. Thanks to all of you and to the amazing medical staff, we still have Trevor
this Christmas day. In our minds, there could be no greater gift. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please share this story and continue to pray.
Thank you. May the presence of God be with you all. Merry Christmas!!!
