Trevanion Family Support Fund
Donation protected
This go-fund-me is set up as a means to support Liz Trevanion and her family (husband Jarrod and boys Hudson and Fletcher).
Liz has endured a difficult and prolonged path to severe malnutrition over the last five years. Misdiagnosed and managed since pregnancy, Liz’s symptoms have only continued to worsen, most notable of which has been significant weight loss. Due to the incorrect diagnosis, Liz has had to fight to have her situation investigated.
A recent referral to yet another specialist has finally uncovered previously undetected physiological causes of Liz’s serious health concerns. The multiple diagnoses are rare and complex and a treatment plan is not clear or easy.
The culmination of symptoms combined with the sustained weight loss and relentless medical regime has left Liz physically depleted and sick. Liz has recently been admitted to hospital and has received a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PIIC) indefinitely so she can receive liquid nutrition.
The intention is that the PIIC line will assist to improve Liz’s health to the extent that she can tolerate complex surgery required.
This admission has required Liz and the family to relocate to Melbourne from Brisbane indefinitely to access the specialist care required.
The past five years navigating these health concerns have taken a heavy toll on Liz and her husband Jarrod, who are raising two energetic boys through this adversity. It has had, and continues to have, a significant impact for them economically, physically, emotionally and day-to-day logistically.
Liz has remained primary carer for their two boys even in spite of her declining health. Liz’s conditions do not meet the eligibility for NDIS and beyond Medicare (which only offers a modest subsidy for medical expenses) there have been no other support services available to the Trevanions.
The intention of this go-fund-me is to provide modest financial support to their family. This will assist the ongoing and expensive medical bills, travel costs and the provision of support services to allow them to focus on Liz’s recovery. It should be noted that Liz and Jarrod have not sought out this support and are reluctant but deserving recipients.
