Our Mission: Bridging the Digital Divide, One Summit at a Time
Hello, I'm Margaret Ngugi , and I'm embarking on the most challenging, yet most inspiring, journey of my life: the "Trek for Tech " – a climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in July 2025. This isn't just a personal feat; it's a monumental step to officially launch the Africa Tech for Tomorrow Foundation from Africa's highest peak and raise critical funds for our very first computer lab in rural Kenya.
My journey to this mission began in Nairobi, Kenya, where I experienced firsthand the transformative power of technology. This passion led me to pursue an education in the USA, followed by a fulfilling career in Silicon Valley. However, upon returning to rural Kenya, I was deeply moved by the stark digital divide – seeing children who lacked basic access to computers, hindering their ability to participate in our increasingly AI-driven world.
This ignited my unwavering commitment to ensure no child is left behind, empowering them with the tools and skills to thrive in the digital age.
The Africa Tech for Tomorrow Foundation is dedicated to empowering disadvantaged children and youth in destitute communities across rural Africa. We do this by building vital computer labs and offering life-changing technology training, providing them with economic empowerment and opportunities for a brighter future.
The Challenge: Conquering Kilimanjaro for a Cause
From July 14th to July 21st, 2025, I will be pushing my limits, physically and mentally, to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro. Every grueling step, every breathtaking view, will be a testament to the climb we are making together to bridge the digital divide. This trek symbolizes the immense challenges many young Africans face in accessing technology, and my commitment to helping them reach their own summits of opportunity.
Why Kilimanjaro?
Symbol of Overcoming: It's a powerful metaphor for overcoming obstacles, mirroring the journey of empowerment we seek for African youth.
Beacon of Hope: The highest point in Africa, a beacon for the continent's potential and a unique platform to raise global awareness.
Personal Commitment: A deeply personal challenge that fuels my dedication to this cause.
I'm currently undergoing rigorous training, preparing my body and mind for the demands of this incredible ascent. You can follow my training updates on my social media chan nels!
