Please help Treesa with her aggressive Glioblastoma Medical treatment.
In October 2022, while Treesa was visiting family in Colorado, she abruptly developed headaches accompanied by vomiting and hand coordination problems. Without hesitation, Treesa was rushed to the Emergency Room at the University of Colorado where a Brain MRI revealed a large mass that was causing dangerous brain swelling. Within 24 hours, Treesa underwent a Craniotomy the next morning to resect the mass compressing her brain. While the surgery was quite successful, the pathology confirmed what her surgeons had suspected—a very aggressive and potentially lethal brain tumor known as Grade 4 Glioblastoma. The prognosis is grim, but there is hope! The location of her tumor was such that upon removal, it didn’t impair motor function, or memory, and only hindered her eyesight minimally. Treesa’s family and close friends immediately rallied to chart the best medical course for her moving forward, one that will hopefully ensure Treesa’s long-term survival! Following the standard treatment protocol of radiation therapy and oral chemotherapy in California, this course has taken her to Duke University in North Carolina under the care of one of the nation’s foremost Neuro Oncologists, Dr. Henry Friedman. In addition, and upon Dr. Friedman’s recommendation, Treesa enrolled in a one of a kind, state-of-the-art personalized vaccine therapy program in Tubingen, Germany, located just outside of Stuttgart. This highly intricated 12-month vaccine program utilizes a highly powerful immune-stimulating series of vaccines created from the genetic “footprint” of Treesa’s actual tumor tissue cells. As such, the vaccine “teaches” Treesa’s own immune system to search out and destroy any residual or recurring specific Glioblastoma cells in her head. We are cautiously optimistic that this amazing treatment opportunity will be Treesa’s lifeline to surviving this otherwise devasting disease. Unfortunately, this treatment isn’t covered by insurance and it does not come without great cost … and that’s where she needs your generous help. The vaccine itself costs nearly $100,000 to manufacture, including all necessary genetic and blood analysis. She must travel to Tubingen, Germany every 4-6 weeks, for a year, to receive the vaccinations. Unfortunately, they cannot safely or legally be transferred out of Germany and cannot be reproduced in the U.S. Thus far, Treesa and her family have gone out of pocket to subsidize this expensive, life-saving process. Paying for the entire treatment and travel expenses is proving to be daunting and nearly impossible. If you can reach into your heart on behalf of our dear Treesa and contribute to her upcoming treatment and travel expenses (either in dollars or Airline miles), we would be eternally grateful and deeply touched by your gifts. She has a long road ahead, and together with your assistance, we can keep her with us for years to come.
