Trees to Re-Green Princess Margaret Avenue

Princess Margaret Avenue Trees

During the summer I spoke with many local residents about tree planting on PMA. The residents' response was positive.

There followed a meeting with the KCC Tree Officer at the site - together with local Cliftonvillle East, Thanet Councillors.

At the meeting, KCC agreed to initiate a site survey together with a CT Ground Scan. Only KCC is authorised to plant and they operate within strict guidelines to comply with traffic regs and avoid disturbing underground utility pipes.

This has now taken place. As a result, KCC have confirmed that we can now look forward to trees being planted, subject to funding, in 2023. Normally 100% of the cost would be borne by residents. After lobbying KCC (well done Cliftonville East Counciilors) they have agreed to match fund (ie 50%) of the cost.

We shall therefore need to raise £2250 of the £4500 total cost of 14 trees in order for the tree planting to go ahead in the Autumn of 2023.

The cost includes planting, cages, stakes and on-going care.

It's now down to us as local residents to get together to raise this money and re-green this popular avenue.

if we fail to hit target we will attempt to get trees pro rata according to budget. Any surplus will be used by the Friends of Botany Bay cic to pay for local street and beach cleaning in 2023.
