Tonight in Columbia, South Carolina, during a rainstorm, a large tree fell on and through the house that belongs to my dear friend Emily Tavera, who is a single mother of 2 young children. The tree penetrated and left gaping holes in the attic and living room, exposing the inside of the house to the elements. Emily and her children are homeless and have no family in the area. They need immediate removal of the tree, and repairs to the home.

Emily just secured full time employment two weeks ago after 4 months of diligent job searching, while supporting her children by selling items around the house. 

Economic pressures resulted in the recent loss of her homeowners insurance.
