Trea'Von Hopkins

Today, we grieve the loss of our student and classmate, Trea’Von “Tre” Hopkins. Trea’Von was a victim of domestic violence, and life was abruptly taken from us on August 19, 2023. Tre was a kind student who often offered help to others. He was funny, energetic, generous, and outgoing. His smile was contagious. Tre would have been entering the 10th grade at Summit Academy Secondary - Youngstown this year. He left an imprint on the hearts of the entire staff and student body and will be greatly missed.

We are seeking support from our community to help Tre’s family provide a proper funeral service for him. Trea’Von’s family was not prepared for his sudden passing, especially for the financial burden of a funeral. We want to give him the memorial he deserves and honor his memory. Our goal is to help the family by fulfilling their financial goal of $10,000. 

We hope to use this tragic event as a catalyst to discuss ways that we can address the problem of domestic violence that affects our community. This is just the beginning of the healing process for their family and our school community. We offer our support to Trea’Von’s grandmother, Carmen Harrison, and family as they go through this time of grief and sorrow.

Psalm 34:17-18; “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”. May Trea’Von’s memory be eternal.
