Treaty People Walk for Water, August 7-25

Donation protected

In this time of awakening, many people are recognizing their treaty responsibilities to both Mother Earth and the Native people of this land. Non-Native people, Native people, U.S. citizens, and anyone who benefits by living on this land -- we all have responsibilities to uphold treaties. In the style of walks led by the American Indian Movement (AIM), we ask you to support us in a prayerful walk in solidarity with Mississippi River, "Nibi" (water), and to #HonortheTreaties that all of our ancestors signed. We will kick off at Coffee Pot Landing on White Earth on August 7th, led by our Indigenous Leaders, and walk for 18 days, walking up to 20 miles a day in order to reach the Capitol Building in St. Paul on August 25th. Participating in this walk is a commitment to honor our treaties, honor the ecosystems that we live with, and say that we cannot continue to violate these ecosystems with fossil fuel infrastructure, specifically the Line 3 pipeline.

By contributing to this fundraiser, you are ensuring that walkers have shelter each night, food to fuel their journey, and support cars to help when needed. Thank you!
