A MS Treatment Trip

I need your Help,

Who is Lance?- I am 34 years old. Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and Marine Corps Veteran.

What is MS (Multiple Sclerosis)? - Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.

What is HSCT? -HSCT (hematopoietic stem cell transplantation) is an intense chemotherapy treatment for MS. It aims to stop the damage MS causes by wiping out and then regrowing your immune system, using your stem cells
When is the treatment? - I am aiming for the August/September time frame. It will be a month-long process.
Where is the treatment? - Puebla, Mexico. at Clinica Ruiz.

This road I have been on was sudden and quite the rollercoaster of events. Last Christmas (2021) started my 4 hospital visits with various tests, including over 35 MRIs with and without contrast, 3 lumbar punctures, way to many to count sets of blood work, COVID tests, etc. it all started with a little foot numbness which spread to both legs from the chest down. My left eyesight is blurry, extremely poor balance when walking or doing any sort of maneuver. Last year alone I had 5 sets of IV steroids. How Can Steroids Help? An MS flare is caused by inflammation in your nerves and myelin, the sheath of tissue around your nerves. Steroids help relieve your MS flare because they reduce nerve inflammation. Steroids to treat MS flares are also called corticosteroids. However, after the first sets a week later everything got worse. after the first 2 months, I was essentially blind and deaf my wife had to use a whiteboard while writing large and single words to communicate. My daughter didn't really understand what was going on. Since a lot of this happened, I did get my hearing back, and some of my eyesight. I never got my balance back, or the numbness back. I have since not been able to drive or go to work. That alone is a weird feeling. My wife, Connie, has been there each step of the way to help. She has provided more than her fair share.

Update 1; the VA won't cover it since it isn't "approved" while not yet approved doesn't mean it isn't extremely successful with great odds for my MS.

Update 2: I'm currently in a wheelchair where I've been since July 2022 after a rollercoaster of life events. I spend like 95% of my days now.
