Helping sick Toronto street cats and kittens
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Rosary, I live in Toronto and I volunteer primarily with street cats. I respond to emails, word of mouth, and online postings written by people concerned for a cat in their neighbourhood. I help with Trap Neuter Return, lost cats, but primarily as a trapper. As winter arrives I have been prioritizing kittens. They have never experienced a Canadian winter and according to most stats, 75% of cats born outdoors do not survive their first 6 months. I place the cats with friends, fellow volunteers who care for them in their own homes, feeding them, socializing them. They are adopted out through local rescues, Toronto Animal Services and Toronto Humane Society. I also trap the colony adults, who are fixed and vaccinated through free City services. Friendly, adoptable cats are also placed on the adoption path. I think I have trapped a total of 175 cats/kittens this year. My time is voluntary. Everyone I volunteer with has a career, children, elderly parents. As cats born in downtown neighbourhoods and industrial workplaces such as factories, exposure to environmental hazards is common. Parasitic infections are common. There is no healthcare for street cats. I am crowdfunding to help some of these cats access vet care and medication when there are no other options. Prescriptions must be prescribed and dispensed by vets. I currently have some very sick kittens and am crowdfunding towards their care. All funds go directly to veterinary services and medication. You can follow my efforts on Instagram at @rosaryk. Thank you in advance for contributing.
