Hello Everyone!!

I am creating this GoFundMe page to raise money to help my family pay for my mother Sara’s chemotherapy treatment and several surrounding costs.

My mum lives in Maracaibo, Venezuela with my brother José Tomás who was born with brain palsy. This affects his motor skills and he requires constant assistance: it’s my mum who lovingly takes care of him every day.

Unfortunately, Sara was diagnosed with breast cancer recently and had to get a mastectomy. Now she needs to undergo 13 sessions of chemotherapy to prevent cancer’s growth. This comes with the need for medicines, medical consultations from an oncologist and other specialists, transportation and an assistant that can help take care of my brother while she undergoes her treatment.

Despite both my parents’ pension and several forms of income, the declining political and economic situation in Venezuela has made it quite difficult for my family to support themselves. My two brothers and I have emigrated and we contribute as much as we can towards helping my mum and little brother. However, this new situation has become too big for us to cover as quickly as we need to, which is why I’m opening this fundraiser.

At the moment Sara has gone through 4 of the 13 chemotherapy sessions. She has been very brave and has remained positive in the face of these difficulties. However, how to pay for the mounting medical bills from her treatment has become a big worry, for her and us.

I am well aware that I am not the first Venezuelan to take this measure since public and free healthcare in Venezuela hasn’t been an option for quite a while. On the other hand, I am fortunate enough to have access to a network of people that can help me pass the word to raise some money, so we can give my family the help they need and deserve.

On behalf of my family, I want to thank everyone for the incredible participation, sharing, contributions and love! I am so grateful!! We are touching the initial goal of £4500 in one day and it's wonderful! This will make all the difference to my mum and my family

We are pushing the goal forward to £8000 in light of the news of Sara needing at least 3 sessions of radiotherapy after consultation with the oncologist following her fourth round of chemotherapy. I will keep updating all the information about her progress on my social media.

Estoy creando esta página de GoFundMe para recaudar fondos para ayudar a mi familia a pagar el tratamiento de quimioterapia de mi madre Sara y los costos asociados.

Mi mamá vive en Maracaibo, Venezuela con mi hermano José Tomás que nació con parálisis cerebral. Esto afectó sus habilidades motoras por lo cual requiere de asistencia constante y es mi madre quien con todo el cariño y dedicación se encarga de esto cada día.

Desafortunadamente, Sara fue diagnosticada con cáncer de mama recientemente y tuvo que tener una mastectomía. Ahora necesita hacer 13 sesiones de quimioterapia para prevenir el crecimiento del cáncer. Esto también incluye la necesidad de medicinas, consultas médicas con el oncólogo y otros especialistas, transporte y un(a) asistente que pueda encargarse de mi hermano José Tomás mientras mi mamá cumple con su tratamiento

A pesar de las pensiones de mis padres y varias formas de ingreso, el deterioro de la situación económica y política de Venezuela ha hecho muy difícil para mi familia mantenerse por sí mismos. Dos de mis hermanos y yo hemos emigrado y contribuimos como podemos para ayudar a nuestra madre y hermano menor sin embargo, con esta nueva situación se ha vuelto mucho más difícil cubrir los costos en poco tiempo por lo cual estoy abriendo esta colecta en línea

Hasta ahora Sara va por la cuarta de trece sesiones de quimioterapia. Ha sido increíblemente valiente y ha permanecido muy optimista y positiva en estas circunstancias aunque el pago de este tratamiento se ha vuelto una gran preocupación para ella y para nosotros

Estoy muy consciente de que no soy el primer venezolano que ha tenido que tomar esta medida, especialmente porque el sistema de salud pública y gratuita en Venezuela es técnicamente inexistente. Por otro lado, cuento con acceso a una red de personas que me pueden ayudar a pasar el mensaje para que recaudemos los fondos y podamos darle a mi familia la ayuda que necesitan y merecen.

Estamos tocando la meta inicial de £4500 en un día y no puedo describir la emoción que siento. Esto marca una gran diferencia para mi familia. Sin embargo, la oncóloga de Sara nos ha informado después de la cuarta ronda de quimioterapia que Sara va a necesitar al menos 3 sesiones de radioterapia por lo que hemos decido extender la meta a £8000. Seguiré informando sobre el progreso de Sara por acá y mis redes sociales.

En nombre de mi familia, quiero agradecerles a todos por la partipación tan increíble, por compartir, por las contribuciones y todo el amor! Me siento infinitamente agradecido!!!
