Treatment for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Donation protected
I never realized how quickly you can go from feeling full of energy and life to feeling like a zombie. I'm a 32 year old father who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma on December 3, 2018. Over the summer, my fiancé noticed that I began to lose weight rapidly and my energy was slowly fading away, constant nose bleeds, feeling faint, pale skin, loss of appetite etc. Twice a week we had date night, that eventually dwindled down to "whenever I had enough energy after work" to watch a movie or have dinner. I couldn't give my daughter the attention she needed or do activities with her over summer break. I didn't feel like myself and I began to think maybe it was diabetes or a case of the flu...a 3 month long flu. Once I was in the emergency room, doctors kept me for 5 days, taking countless blood tests, bone marrow biopsies and checking my vitals every half hour. They finally came to the conclusion that aside from severe anemia, I had NHL. I had no idea what that meant ( to be honest I'm still figuring this all out one day at a time) and I didn't know what to do. I can't go back to work until this is "taken care of" it was detected very early on and is very treatable but treatments begin at $2,500 and I am in need of 4 treatments, possibly more if the cancer cells are not completely destroyed. Rituxan is not chemotherapy but a form of antibody therapy. Rituxan will help destroy my cancer cells. I am not currently working, I can't leave the house since my white blood cell count is dangerously low. I can't get sick or any type of infection otherwise my immune system will be jeopardized. I am asking for any type of donation to help cover the cost of my treatments. I have not begun treatments yet but I need to begin as soon as possible during "Flu Season" to get my white blood cell count back to normal... to get myself and my family back to normal. Thank you.
