Treatment for my brother's Rheumatoid Arthritis
The short: My youngest brother, Andrew, has rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The only treatment options left for him are medications that would cause severe side effects. Because of how his RA has progressed, he has not been able to work for 2 months. I am raising money for him to gain access to non-embryonic evidence based stem cell treatment. This is currently not covered by his HMO insurance.
The money will be used to cover the costs of two rounds of treatment. Even if you are unable to donate at this time - please support him by sharing this opportunity with anyone you feel may be able to help.
The long: In the fall of 2019, my youngest brother, Andrew experienced some shoulder pain that wouldn't go away. After seeing different specialists and trying a variety of treatments, his search led him to a Rheumatologist. A series of tests revealed that he had rheumatoid arthritis. Unfortunately since being diagnosed, his condition has deteriorated quite quickly.
He has been affected throughout his whole body. He was put on a high dosage of prednisone to reduce the swelling and pain, as well as some different types of medications specific to the treatment of RA. Unfortunately, he received little benefit, and had to switch to a different steroid. Andrew also worked extensively with an internist in an effort to find the right nutritional and supplement regimen to no avail. His internist acknowledged that he had done everything he could to treat Andrew's RA, but there was little progress made.
Andrew's condition continued to worsen and unfortunately he had to take an unpaid leave from work for the last two months. Some days the pain is so severe that it prevents him from getting out of bed. His Rheumatologist does not have any options for him other than to start him on a medication that will cause serious side effects.
After some extensive research, and in lieu of taking that medication, he is looking to gain access to stem cell treatment. There is plenty of literature that reflects it being effectively used to treat patients with RA. The treatment is costly as it is not covered by his HMO insurance. And if you are aware of autoimmune issues, these are not well supported by an HMO plan at all.
Any amount that you feel led to donate would be greatly appreciated. This total includes the cost of the two rounds of treatment he would need for his RA.
And if you feel led, please share with anyone you feel may be interested.
