Support for Moses in critical condition
Donation protected
Hi,
We are setting up a fundraiser for our doggy, Moses, who we adopted a little over a year ago. His condition has worsened suddenly and very fast. We have exhausted our options, accumulating up to $13,000 in vet bills which could still increase depending on his condition. Only a fraction can be covered by insurance.
Our family vet diagnosed him with mild kennel cough in late July and he was prescribed antibiotics a couple weeks later when his condition did not improve. Despite his antibiotics finishing Aug 22, he showed little improvement and his condition took a turn for the worse in the early hours of Sunday when he vomited and peed in his crate overnight. We rushed him to the nearest emergency clinic where they performed blood tests and an x-ray with sedation. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and pancreatitis. They discharged him around 4AM and he was prescribed various medications to continue his treatment at home. Shortly after we got back home, he could barely move and had rapid, heavy breathing. We called the vet but were told that this was not immediately concerning as he was coming off sedation and they also noticed he was breathing heavily before we picked him up. They chalked it up to be a usual symptom of his illness. Later on, he was still having laboured breathing. We called them again but they had other emergency patients and referred us to another clinic. The new clinic questioned why the hospital had discharged him in the first place with his respiratory issues. We were told to bring him in right away and that his condition is considered critical.
Upon arrival to the new hospital, he was hooked up to oxygen, IV fluids, and a catheter. We learned that he might’ve inhaled a bit of that initial vomit which caused further irritation in the lungs. This evening, Monday Aug 26th, they updated us that his levels have gotten slightly worse and he’s being monitored constantly to make sure his body does not go into sepsis. We expect him to be admitted to the clinic’s ICU for another few days.
We deeply appreciate and humbly ask for any amount of help you can offer for our dear Mosey Bear. We are devastated that this is happening so soon after he joined our family and pray that he can bounce back to be with us for much longer.
Thank you ♥️
