Treatment for Leopold Bloom

If you know Julia or Brandon (the current writer), and you've spent more than 45 seconds talking with either of them, then you must already know of Leopold Bloom, dog. Three years ago we adopted him, and since then he's filled so many roles in our lives: therapist, companion, welcomer, guard, dish cleaner, hot-water bottle--in short--dog. I also like to think that he has touched each member of the community that has met him: whether you're one of the dedicated cadre of people that have walked him or taken him in, or whether you're one of the many 5 year old children for whom Leo was the first dog that they've ever pet.
Unfortunately, I have just received a call from our veterinarian confirming that he has Canine Lymphoma. It has been a terrible, terrible whirlwind, and as soon as we find out more from the oncologist, I will keep people posted on here. Fortunately we have insurance, so we will be able to provide him whatever treatment will keep him comfortable and relatively healthy for as long as possible. Unfortunately we still have to pay for all of these costs up front and are only reimbursed after the fact. And many of them won't be covered at all.
Ultimately we are trying to raise money to make paying for these costs possible. Most of this money would go for laying out the cost for chemotherapeutic drugs (which thankfully are much more mild on canines than on humans). Any money that is raised beyond what is reimbursed by the insurance company would be returned to you generous folks. I've set the goal amount to $1,000 for now, I may raise or lower that once we have a better estimate what the total costs will be.
Any contribution would be incredible helpful and appreciated. I cannot even begin to put into words how much Leo means to Julia...I doubt such words exist. But in my meager dialect I can say that Leopold is the most gentle, kind-hearted dog that I have ever met. When I was apart from Julia at medical school he was my lifeline. I would spend hours, sometimes days hardly leaving the room, just studying, and my one respite and confidante was Leopold Bloom. There is little that I can do to repay this debt. We have been bearing the emotional burden of this (yes, even now he comes over to me and looks at me and asks why I'm crying, blissfully oblivious). And I am asking you kind people to help in any way that you can (he doesn't have the manual dexterity that typing requires).
