I am launching this Go Fund Me campaign to give my daughter, Laney, what she needs to recover.
Many of you know of Laney’s life-threatening addiction to opioids, especially during the last two years when Covid led to isolation and fentanyl flooded the streets.
Thankfully, she had a moment of clarity last month: She recognized the severity of her illness -- and overdose risk -- and agreed to leave Portland to get well. On May 23, the two of us (and her dog) drove to Utah where she completed detox, and then on to Arizona where she entered treatment. The photo above was taken in Utah after five days of detox.
When she completes treatment, she plans to live in sober housing while engaging in therapy and 12 step fellowship. Thankfully, my family in Arizona will be with her every step of the way.
None of this is possible without funding. Even with insurance, substance use treatment is outrageous. It requires up-front deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums. For a single parent, impossible. Yet Laney needs to access treatment outside of Oregon/Washington where people-places-things have historically held her back. She also needs a different environment to heal from trauma. So I started a Go Fund Me.
All donations will go into a secure account in my name and will be used to cover travel expenses, deductibles, copays, medication and room-and-board. It will also help her transition into sober living.

Please contribute what you can – no amount is too small! And please help spread the word – my circle is pretty small and I don’t have a social media presence.
With love and gratitude,
Meggan (mom)
