As family and friends will know, Kyle Warne was in a terrible car accident which, amongst the other injuries he sustained, also caused a traumatic brain injury.
Kyle spent over a year in different hospital rehabilitation units slowly regaining some movement and speech. His indomitable bravery and determination has allowed him to grow further since returning home.
However, there is still a long way to go. Kyle’s brain injury has still left him with a number of significant obstacles, including the inability to move his left arm.
There is an approved treatment called Perispinal Etanercept, available in the United States, that works to decrease inflammation in the brains of stroke patients. A clinical trial of the treatment has recently been approved for a one million dollar Australian Government grant, however Kyle was outside the scope of the trial and unable to take part.
Nazmin, Kevin and Kyle have noted their interest in the 8-week American treatment. The cost of the procedure and accommodation will be significant, so the Warne family are asking for your help. This is just one of the countless mental and financial challenges they have faced and will face for the rest of his life. Every dollar helps.
Kyle asked me to set this fundraiser up for him and I plan on withdrawing the funds directly to his family. They will use it to pay for as much of the significant costs of the procedure and travel to the US.
