Brain Injury Treatment for Kastin “Cody” Kopecky
Donation protected
Those of you who know our family know the struggles we went through back in June 2011 when my son Kastin "Cody" suffered from a severe anoxic brain injury. He was pronounced dead the first night in the ICU. Fortunately for us the intern did not give up so easily and stabbed him in the heart with a shot of adrenaline and his heart started beating. We were told his organs would start shutting down one by one and if he did survive he would be a vegetable for the rest of his life. He spent 10 weeks in 3 different hospitals in California where we lived at the time. He walked out of the 3rd hospital with only a crutch for assistance on August 17, 2011. FYI: We returned home to Louisiana in August 2012.
He suffers from short term memory loss, inability to problem solve in some areas, lack of concentration, and other life long symptoms that affect his ability to live a productive and normal life. In order to improve his quality of life and help him overcome some of the many issues he deals with daily due to his injury we are trying to get him into a treatment in New Orleans that has been proven successful for so many TBI injuries and other related brain impairments. Cody will go into a hyperbaric chamber for 5 days a week for 8 weeks (40 treatments in all) where he will intake 100% pure oxygen. These treatments will wake up dormant brain cells, build blood vessels, and renew connections between nerve cells affected by his injuries. I am hoping this will also improve his function in his left arm/hand that was also damaged when he was carried to a car and brought to the hospital.
It has taken us a long time to resort to asking for help, but I have not been able to bounce back from losing my job in CA and then flooding here in Baton Rouge in 2016 to be able to provide him with this treatment. I can no longer sit by and watch him suffer when there is a treatment out there that can help him. He would need enough money for the initial consultation and a place to stay in New Orleans during the week during treatments.
The place he will be getting treatment is Harch Hyberbaric Oxygen Therapy in Marrero, LA if you need to verify this. Maple is who I have been working with. I would appreciate anything you can give and hope and pray that you will help Cody.
Thank you in advance for your donations and prayers.
