Hi guys, I’m making this gofundme on behalf of my best friend, Jamey Ansel, in hopes of helping make the upcoming months a little more manageable for her. In January of this year, Jamey went to the emergency room with what she thought was a concussion from a car accident, and found out while there that she actually has a brain tumor. Further scans have shown that she actually has 3 brain tumors as of now, and has led them to believe she may have a condition called NF2, which causes tumors to grow along the nerves in your body. The testing for this has so far been deemed medically unnecessary and therefore is not being covered by her insurance. Because of the scans, appointments, and treatments, she will have to be taking some extra days off of work, as well as any days that her symptoms might make it impossible to work. She has been approved for FMLA, but that only protects her job, and does not provide compensations for days she has to miss. Now today, she found out that she is going to have to have a hysterectomy. For 12 years she’s been failed by doctor after doctor as to what has been causing her severe pain and dysfunctional bleeding. Because of her tumors being fueled by hormones, they are unable to treat her with any medications so surgery is her only option left. For the surgery she is going to have to take up to 8 weeks off and was not approved for disability for her time off. She has not yet been guaranteed that the surgery will be covered by her insurance either. We all know that monthly bills do not stop when we get sick, and that medical bills are not cheap either.
