Her name is Heather. Fibromyalgia has been part of her life for the past 8+ years. She is now in her mid thirties and, with a long history of trying numerous treatments, it has not only cost her large sums of money, but it has cost her the hope that something would help ease her levels of pain and suffering.
But there is hope, and with recent medical advancements, there are successful alternative treatments (two of them detailed below).
Most people with Fibro are unable to work. It's too debilitating. Yet, as an Editor In Chief of ROGUE, Heather's days are nonstop production with little sleep. Her schedule consists of working 80+ hour weeks because she is driven to succeed.
Each day she has to scroll through hundreds of emails from publicists, her staff, contributors, distributors, brands, and photographers pitching their work, other big magazines asking her to write a cover story for their publication, not to mention emails from family and friends, and so forth and so on. Then there's her phone, which is lined up with dozens of new unread texts coming in by the hour, all needing something from her.
All this daily communication requires some kind of response, and being responsible for so much and for so many people is not something a person with Fibro should have to deal with - yet Heather does. Every single day.
The thing about this disease is that there are days that are so bad, that sleep and rest are the only thing that matters. For a busy person like Heather, life gets reduced down to one desire – to rest. But doing nothing is a luxury people like Heather can't afford.
So, for Heather, living with severe pain is a way of life. Some days are better than others, but the pain is always there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. She will measure her pain levels on a scale from 1-10 and on an average day, her pain is around 6, and when she has what doctors refer to as a "Fibro flare-up" the pain will exceed 10. It's a constant.
Her previous treatments were either unsuccessful or only helped for a temporary period of time. Often she ran out of the enormous sums of money required to continue funding the treatment, let alone cover tests and buy necessary drugs and medication. What's interesting is that Heather has been drug-free her whole life until Fibro which requires the need for painkillers, and now she can't survive without them.
Insurance doesn't cover much, especially alternative treatment that can actually help improve the condition. And her family (including me) has not had the financial means to help much either.
That is why I'm asking for your support to help me in raising funds so that Heather can get the full and complete treatment she needs to improve the quality of her life and not be dependant on drugs. It's a somewhat long road and an expensive undertaking but, if anyone deserves to be helped, it is Heather.
FIBRO TREATMENT PROGRAMS
There are medical specialists who have successfully treated Fibro patients. One of the doctors chosen for Heather's treatment will be Dr. Arlo Gordin . He's been practicing medicine for nearly 40 years and his unique and proven approach to treatment targets 3 of the main issues behind what causes Fibro pain and he's one of only a few doctors in America trained on how to deliver this specialized treatment.
See Dr. Gordin's article on his treatment of Fibro, fixing the causes of Fibro rather than treating/masking the pain and symptoms:
Another part of her Fibro treatment will be from West Los Angeles Fibromyalgia specialist Dr. Anju Mathur who provides a Back To Wellness Program at Angel Longevity Medical Center in Los Angeles that has successfully treated patients with Fibro and other auto immune diseases.
To get the full benefits and results of these medical specialists, treatments (including supplements) will run between $9-10K. These treatment protocols run for a period of 5-6 months.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any help you can provide in raising funds to get Heather on these programs (and afford to complete the programs) is greatly appreciated and much needed. Every dollar matters.
And I ask that you share this page in order to help spread this campaign around in raising the needed funds so she can start treatments as soon as possible.
(Note: see Donation Perks in sidebar).
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain and tenderness, and it can seriously reduce the quality of life. It's an auto-immune disease that is so devastating it ends up ruining a person's life in every conceivable way. It is rated #2 as one of the most painful diseases or conditions in existence (with Leprosy taking top rank).
Doctors say there is no cure. They don't know what causes it. And apparently, it only gets worse with age.
