My daughter Gabbie's medical fund

I am Helena, Gabbie's Mom. I am starting this GoFundMe page for Gabbie to raise money for her medical bills. Gabbie contracted Lyme disease in August 2015 while hiking along the Eno River in Durham, NC, just  before she moving to IVT to start her career as a professional glass blower. Within a week of the tick bites she had extreme arm and joint pain and was treated with Antibiotics. But Gabbie is one of the 30% of patients that do not completely recover from the affects of Lyme, in spite of following CDC treatment guidelines. She has had increase in pain to her neck, back, leg and hips and nerve pain on the left side of her body. All major joints are affected. She has fatique and brain fog. The disease exacerbates mental issues such as depression and anxiety.

There is a lot of controversy regarding chronic lyme, or whether it even exists. Most medical professionals now call it "post treatment lyme disease syndrome" and acknowledge that they don't know why patients treated according to published guidelines fail to completely recover.  You can find more information at www.ILADS.org (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society), or watch the documentary, "Under our Skin" (www.underourskin.com)

 She has seen many medical professionals and they don't know what to do for her and only suggest answers to deal with the chronic pain, not the cause. She had to resign from her job, give up her apartment and move back home to live with me.

Funds raised through this GoFundMe page will be used for Gabbie's healthcare, both traditional treatments (MD visits, medications, physical therapy) and non-traditional treatments (acupuncture, Reiki, herbs and supplements). We continue on our quest to research the best lyme treatment for Gabbie and to find Lyme Literate Doctors to support Gabbie in her search for health and  to regain her life and independence.
