If you’ve ever tried to win over a tough New Yorker, you’ll understand Grady (AKA Glengarry Glen Grady, because every good Brooklyn cat deserves a dramatic name).
For the past 2+ years, Grady has been a regular in a Brooklyn cat colony I care for. He's one of those elusive, street-smart guys who keeps his distance just enough to avoid capture, but will show up for every meal. I’ve been feeding this colony twice a day and working to get every colony member fixed, but Grady has always managed to stay one step ahead.
Then couple of weeks ago, we noticed Grady was injured. He had a visible cut on his tail or leg. The need to get him trapped and looked after was greater than ever. After about a week of patient trapping (and a lot of strategizing), we finally got him trapped and to a vet. Victory! Sort of...
The good news: his visible injury wasn’t serious, and he was successfully neutered that same day!
The bad news: Grady has severe dental disease. The kind that makes eating painful. The kind that has to be treated before he can be released, or ideally, before we can even think about giving him a safer, indoor life.
Right now, Glengarry Glen Grady is staying inside with me. He’s shy, but he’s showing signs of softening. He accepts treats. He slow-blinks. He explores his room when he thinks no one’s watching. There’s a sweet, gentle cat in there, he just needs time (and functioning teeth) to open up.
And that’s where we need your help.
The estimated cost for Glengarry Glen Grady's dental treatment is $1,500. This will cover the procedures needed to relieve his pain and give him a real shot at a comfortable life, whether that means eventual release or full socialization and a forever home.
I’ve been committed to this colony for years, making sure these cats are fed, safe, and cared for, but this is a bigger medical expense than I can take on alone.
If Glengarry Glen Grady's story resonates with you, if you believe that even the toughest street cats deserve a chance to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for, then please consider donating. And if you can’t donate, sharing his story helps more than you know.
From a scrappy, hard-to-catch street cat to a shy little guy learning to trust, Glengarry Glen Grady is already rewriting his story. Let’s work together to make sure it has a happy ending!
