With a heavy heart I am updating this post as Sara's cancer has returned. She has been diagnosed with a very aggressive stage 4 metastatic breast cancer (her original cancer has returned and spread). It has been located on her neck, collarbone, right armpit, hip, pelvis, spine, liver, chest wall behind her implants, tissue between her lungs (thankfully her lungs are functioning normally) and her right femur.
She has had several diagnostic testing's to include MRIs, CTs, Pet scan, ultrasounds to include a needle biopsy. Her brain MRI results were normal which was some positive news. All of the diagnostic testing has been completed at her local clinic where an oncologist has put together a treatment plan to include chemo along with medications.
She will have a port put in place for the chemo, 1st chemo treatment is scheduled for the end of the month. The biopsy has confirmed positive for HER-2 therefore she has a larger variety of medications to combine with the chemo.
Sara will be also starting treatment with her original oncologist from her previous Breast cancer diagnosis 2 years ago at Mayo Clinic in Rochester on the 24th.
Sara's sisters Sheila and Courtney have put together a Caring Bridge site in the event you would like to follow her journey, no password is needed.
Sara is a strong, young woman who is heading into the battle of her lifetime with a very positive attitude. She is ready to tackle this beast with all that she has.
With that being said she also knows the financial struggle with time off work for treatment for both her and her husband, medication, co-payments, travel expenses to include possible hotel expense, babysitting costs if needed, any medical treatment not covered by health insurance along with all the misc costs will weigh heavy on her and her families minds.
Please help Sara's family out with any financial assistance you can provide, if you are not able to financially support the family your thoughts and more importantly prayers would be appreciated!
Thank you for you support in the past and present!
