My name is Travis Hillis. In April, I was laid off from my job but was getting unemployment, which was better than nothing while I searched for new work. I found a job working with a friend of mine that I was going to start as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the week I was supposed to go in for paperwork to start work, on Tuesday, July 15th, I had a serious accident while riding a friend's quad in my field looking for a part that was lost from my kid's bike. I made one bad decision to hit the gas while turning to spin the back tires around. The tire caught in dry ground, causing the 700lbs quad to roll. I tried to jump clear of it but got my foot caught while the quad rolled over on top of me, shattering my right foot and breaking my right shoulder. I spent four days and three nights in the hospital before getting released until my second surgery on my foot.
Because of this extremely painful and unfortunate event, I no longer can work or qualify for unemployment, which means I now have zero income and bills stacking up. Just my surgery on Wednesday, 7/23 alone costs just over $70,000.
I am not one that likes asking for help. But in order to make it through this long and difficult recovery, I am asking for any help I can get. No donation or offer is too small. And I am incredibly grateful for any support and shares for this.
Thank you in advance!
