Travis' Arthrogryposis Journey
Donation protected
My grandson Travis Aranda, son of Dustin and Deborah Aranda, is 2.5 years old with a smile that can light up any room. He loves Dinosaurs, Hot wheels, PJ Mask, playing outside with his brothers, and baths. He was born with condition called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita or AMC for short. That means he has joint contractures from lack of movement in the womb. This is a life long condition that with the help of surgery and physical therapy can improve his quality of life. Travis was born with his legs stuck in criss cross position (frog legs), slightly bent wrists with his thumbs in his palms and stiff straight arms, he doesn't have bendy elbows. Throughout his life so far he has done casting with a heel cord release for clubfoot along with countless physical therapy sessions for legs and elbows. He wears leg braces 23hours a day to hold the bones in the position that has been achieved, elbow braces to sleep, hand splints for thumbs and currently crawls all around the house and uses his wheelchair in public. Travis will be having surgery in South Carolina for a knee release followed by stretch casting to get his "walking legs." This surgery will allow his legs to be straight and rotated into a position to look and work more like "typical" legs so that he may learn to walk and become independent. Mom and Dad will be driving along with Travis to South Carolina in late July for surgery. Mom will be staying approximately 7 weeks in South Carolina with Travis for surgery, recovery and intense physical therapy. All Proceeds from fund raising are to help with the cost of fuel, food, and lodging. If there is any left over it will be used for therapy in Travis' journey in learning to walk. Thank you all for your kindness.
