If you have listened to music or gone to a local NoVA bar any time since the 80's then Big Travis has most likely played music for you. Never failing to hype up crowds with his music, he is still always willing to play that one request most DJ's would pass on. Never hesitating to step outside the DJ booth to give you a hug and call you fam, buy you a drink, or ask how life has been. He's a legend, a great DJ, true friend, but most importantly, an amazing father.
Though many of us know Travis as a DJ, that was always a side gig. Travis is the AGM of Buffalo Wild Wings. Working many hours on end to make sure he can provide a better life for the one thing that means more to him than even the San Antonio Spurs or Dallas Cowboys, his 4 daughters Tatiana, Marisa, Natalia, and Sydney.
Like many in 2020, Travis was furloughed from his service industry job and lost all his DJ accounts due to Covid. However, on September 2nd tragedy struck when Travis suffered a debilitating stroke leaving him hospitalized for days.
In addition to overwhelming medical bills, Travis lost sight in his left eye and has been handicapped with an inability to walk and speak at times. He is now enrolled in rehab to help with speech as well as learning the basic fundamentals of how to walk again.
As rent, utilities, and medical bills add up, Travis is now facing the daunting task of how to survive with no job while overcoming the hurdles and limitations his stroke has left him with.
2020 has not been kind to any of us, but for those that are facing less challenges, we are asking for donations to help pay off medical debt and cover basic living expenses so that Travis can rehabilitate and get himself back into the workforce again. No donation is too small. Any help is appreciated. Please take a moment to help lift the spirits of a local legend, but more importantly give him back the ability to take care of what he loves most, his daughters.
