Travel help to See Dad Before he Leaves Earth!
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Teri (Teresa) Underwood. My Dad, Don Underwood, has been my mentor and strength my entire life. He was born and raised in Knoxville Tennessee, Fountain City area. He went to Central High School, I went there, 2 of my children went there and my grandson graduated from there as well.
As a child Dad was always above and beyond in intelligence, and learned to play guitar from Chet Adkins when he was 5. He later traveled and played Baritone Sax in big bands and landed in Oregon where he met my beautifu; Step Mom. They settled in Carmel Valley California, and Dad became well known world wide for his creation, Underwood Bass Pickup. My younger sisters now run this organization to keep it's legacy and quality pickups available for musicians.
Dad is the most kind, sweet, intlligent man, and most of all has been an amazing Dad and Human. It is with a heavy heart I have learned he may only have a few days left on this planet. He has survived a stroke, broken hip, several falls prostate removal and bladder cancer in the past decade. He did all of this while keeping his independance, a smile and wonderful sense of humor. We had hoped he would see his 90th Birthday January 1, 2024, but yesterday we were told he can't even swallow his own spittle, and there isn't anything else the hospital can do for him. We want to bring him home to leave in peace in his house and surrounded by loved ones.
Because I still live in Tennessee, I go see Dad yearly, and have been blessed to do so since 1978.
I want and need to be with him in his last days, and to support my sisters and Bonus Mom Serena as he leaves this earth.
Currently I don't have the finances, as I recenlty lost my job and am struggling to just survive financially day to day as I look for empoyment.
I am looking for help to purchase a plane ticket. rental car and hotel fees to be able to go to him and love him as he leaves us. My heart is breaking at the thought of never seeing him again or hearing his amazing stories of his travels, people he has met, and adventures in life. I will always cherish these.
Any funds left over will go to help with his funeral arrangements and hospital bills Dad has expressed his wishes are to be cremated, and scattered in the hills and mountains of East Tennessee, which has always been his home in his heart.
I hope you can help me to do this one last thing for this amazing man who has given so much to those around him, and meant so much to me my entire life.
Thank you for your consideration and Love, Light and Blessings to you. Teri
