F'as@^! Yá'át'ééh! Boozhoo! Hello everyone, I'm raising money to pay for my travel expenses to the first abroad Indigenous Comic Con in Melbourne, Australia at the end of November. I'm really excited and proud to see how far our con has come since 2016, when we just had the small hallways of NHCC. I've worked it out with the organizer of IndigiCon Australia to get my room and board taken care of while I'm there. So this fundraiser will mostly go towards my airplane tickets to and from Melbourne and using things like getting Lyft or Uber to get around.
The main reason I want to go is the widen my understandings and perspectives of what it means to be an "indiginerd" while also bringing mine and my cultures'. I feel it is imperative to have camaraderie amongst indigenous people across the globe. ICC and IPX are amazing spaces for discussions of representation and futurisms. It is an incredibly beautiful celebration of the creativity and innovations of indigenous people. I'm honored every year to be apart of the community and look forward to learning and experiencing as much as I can from our relatives in Australia. (It'll also be my first time leaving the US!)
