Travel expenses to attend trial in Alabama

For those who don’t know me, my name is Lindsay and back in January of 2018, I was faced with a very difficult decision to have to rehome my first horse, Willie. I thought I found a forever loving home for him - his new owner was a vet student and avid horse lover after all. But unfortunately, I along with many others were deceived by this woman’s persona. I wrote up a contract before she took Willie but was completely deceived by her charade. Willie was the catalyst of a much larger conglomerate.

Willie was the first of 63 horses to be documented from six states to be taken under false pretense by the same woman; Fallon Blackwood. All of these horses were promised a forever and loving home but instead were most likely brought to slaughter by way of auction houses and kill buyers.

When I first sat down with my attorney in 2018, she had told me that this could take some time. I went in knowing to be patient and I would do what it took to see this through.

Since that first meeting, we moved across the country, had a beautiful daughter, survived a pandemic along with the rest of the world, had job changes, and battled mental health struggles due to the outcome of me losing Willie. It has been a journey but I feel like I have finally been able to allow myself to experience joy again. I feel blessed that I’ve been able to allow horses back into my life in the most magical capacity and them, along with my family and friends, have been my greatest source of healing.

It has been over 5 years now since this nightmare began and not a day goes by that I am not haunted by it. The State of Alabama vs. Fallon Blackwood hearing has been continued time and time again. But here we are and it is actually going to happen this time.

I am being subpoenaed to appear in court on Wednesday May 24, 2023 in Alabama. I am hesitant to ask for help but I know that financially, my family is unable to make this trip happen on our own. This is a huge financial, mental, emotional and logistical burden on us and I feel like the only way I can see this to the end is if I reach out for support to help me get down to Alabama.

Many of you have been following since the beginning and I have truly appreciated all of your support, love, messages, and keeping an eye on the auctions. Willie is just one of many who were wronged by this woman and there are many other innocent horses out there that end up in the slaughter pipeline. Your continued support is felt beyond words.

Willie, it’s been 1,936 days since I unknowingly kissed you goodbye forever but I promised you I would see this through. Not just for you but to be a voice for all of the voiceless. Missing you every moment, Mr. Long Ears.
