Never a dull moment with lymphoma

Well back in November 2012 I was diagnosed with stage four Large B Cell Lymphoma. In the 11 years of my life with cancer. It’s hard not to say I’m cancer free. All it means is the the cancer is in remission. My life let just say hasn’t been a clean bill of health. I’ve gone through three chemotherapy sessions since the diagnosis.

My late ditch effort to go back to work was a complete failure. My last chemotherapy was called Stem Cell Transplant. I was fortunate to make it through the transplant. But the hope of living cancer free was there. So I took the million to one chance. The Stem Cell Transplant took a lot out of me.

The picture I’ve posted is something that happened to me in December. The pain I had to endure was horrendous. Before the Stem Cell Transplant i suffered kidney failure. To top everything off I relapsed and was informed that I had a cancerous mass attached to my lower spine. For the first time doctors were asking if I wanted a DNR.

I also had to contend with the kidney failure where I was put on hemodialysis machine. Their prognosis was pretty grim but I survived against all odds. My previous boss told me he hired someone else. My battle for self sufficiency has been dashed by lymphedema aka edema. Before my last bout December 24 2022 the edema was in one leg.

But after my operation for an abscess on my left thigh and bout with sepsis. I’m finally out and about trying to gain my strength back. But with both legs infected with edema I can only try to manage the swelling. Even now doctors are keeping an eye on my heart and lungs. Over two and a half years my stomach blood veins and colon took a beating from the chemotherapy drugs.

My personal prognosis is probably what my doctors are keeping an eye on my lungs and heart. Now that the pain in more manageable I’m pushing myself harder knowing the more bouts will eventually come to pass.
