On September 30, 2026, John Donat arrived at approximately 2:00 a.m. at the extended stay hotel where he lived in Houston, TX. As a former chef, John paired his culinary skills with serving his community, often gathering and cooking food from his local food bank to feed those in need. Moments before this horrific crime, he was feeding a homeless woman outside his hotel when, in an attempted carjacking, he was tragically and senselessly killed.
