My name is Alex Delano. I am 25 years old. I am currently hospitalized for the second time in two months. This time is worse, more serious than the 5 days in September. In September they found nodules in my lungs. A little fluid. Some weird reactions. They took notice of a lot of symptoms that had been around all my life.
I did get better from the scariest stuff. The fluid cleared up and I could breathe again. My chest stopped hurting. I could lie down again (have you ever had to sit up for a week? Butt ache.) and I could laugh again.
But I did not stay better. I went back to the ER again. And again. And again.
And the last time we learned in 12 days since my previous scan, my right lung built up over 2 liters of fluid that had to be removed via chest tube. I have a mass on my neck. I can't explain the pain. I can't tell you how many times I have screamed and cried. Gosh, I have cried. I will spare you all from reading a novel on further symptoms, I write this to ask for help.
I am being transfered to UAMS in Little Rock. My doctors admit they have no answers.
I need my people. I need my mom, who already lives 10 hours away. Due to Covid, UAMS has not allowed visitors since March. That changes Wednesday, November 4th. I am so, so, so thankful for this ray of light and hope. They will not allow overnight visitors though. Please help me, help my loved ones have a place to stay. Most of the hospital accommodations are also shut down due to Covid, not that we qualify for them anyway, unfortunately. No exceptions, hotels will be the only options. Some offer discounts for UAMS patient family though. My mom has about 500 dollars in rental car cost just to spend 2 weeks here and I'm not sure this is going anywhere by then...
I am crying again as I write this because my mom is my best friend and I am scared and I can't see her or hug her because of something as dumb as money and also, something as life changing as Covid has been on us all. That's it. That's our story, and that's why we need your help.
