Anna's Training in Trauma Treatment

Hi, folks! I'm many things -- friend, colleague, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, blogger, Bostonian, and -- last, but not least -- a Licensed Clinical Social Worker! I love my career in social work (on most days), and have a special passion for helping my clients survive and heal from traumatic experiences.
I've had this passion for many years, and have focused my education, training, and clinical experience on learning how to help people heal from trauma. In undergrad, this looked like obtaining a certification in Trust-Based Relational Intervention, a therapeutic model for helping children recover from trauma such as abuse and neglect. My favorite grad class at Boston College was exploring the same subject. I took such copious notes in that class that I should be an expert in treating trauma by now!
Ha. But I'm not, of course! Which brings to my request:
I'd love your help raising $3,599 to pay for a Certificate Program for Traumatic Stress Studies, hosted and taught by Dr. Bessell van der Kolk and other top experts in the field of researching and treating post-traumatic stress. Those of you in the mental health field -- and those of you who, like me, are trauma survivors -- have likely heard of this world-renowned trauma expert and the associated Trauma Center in Brookline, MA.
I learned about Dr. van der Kolk and the center he started prior to moving to Boston for grad school in 2013, and I've had my eye on it ever since. And now, in Fall 2018, I've decided to participate in the center's most intensive training program!
My main barrier is a common one for social workers: I'm not exactly rolling in dough. Have a little extra to contribute toward the cause? Here are the details:
- Nine month program, running from October 2018 through June 2019
- 2.5 hours of video training online every week
- Cost for 9-month program: $3,599 total
- If you wanna know more, go to the website itself !
I've decided to pay in full on October 1, 2018, but I will continue to gladly accept contributions for as long as people are interested in helping out.
Thank you so, so much for considering! Your generosity is appreciated -- whether your gift is $5 or $500.
