Traumatic Brain Injury Recovery Hardship Fund

Donation protected

Friends and Family,

As many of you have heard, one of the youngest members of our family was in a horrendous motorcycle accident and is facing a very steep mountain of work and expense on his long road to recovery.

Unfortunately, as is true with so many accidents, insurance coverage is of no use covering many of the necessary expenses. Our family and 25-year-old nephew would very much appreciate any assistance you are willing to provide.

The story is of course, a parent's worst nightmare... our nephew was recently helicoptered to the hospital after a driver pulled onto the highway in front of him causing Dennis’ motorcycle to collide with the driver’s pickup truck. Dennis was thrown far from his bike after impact. He suffered significant brain trauma and broke his C6 vertebrae. One arm and one leg were seriously broken and there were many internal injuries.

Dennis was on a ventilator with a tracheostomy to facilitate breathing and a feeding tube while he was unconscious for nearly a month. The great news is that he is now out of a coma and showing the first signs of recovery. Each day, he makes a tiny bit of progress (no vent or trach today) but the significant brain damage has left him unable to communicate or sustain basic bodily functions such as eating or much voluntary movement. Just this past week, he was relocated to Craig Hospital in Colorado, which has a focus on addressing these type of injuries.

Dennis is a sweet, kind, humble, hard-working young man with his whole life ahead of him.

Our family’s wish is to help ensure he has the best rehabilitation care as well as caretaker support he needs to rebuild his life.

The health care expenses are already mounting, and his parents will face loss of wages, travel costs, and many other expenses over the next year or more to help support their son in remote rehabilitation.

We expect the uncovered needs for healthcare and Dennis’ parents to well exceed $200,000.00. As we try to help Dennis' family move forward emotionally and financially, we are turning to friends and family to ask for support to help his parents manage his next chapter of life.

There is a long road ahead of Dennis and his parents and we thank you in advance for your prayers and assistance as they proceed on this journey.

With love and appreciation,

Paula, Steve and the Kranz Family
