What are we doing?
We are creating art! To be more specific, we are making a short film called "Trattoria". We are extremely excited to be working on this and getting so close to bringing it to life! We will be shooting this in the Chicagoland area in December of 2020. With the help of all you generous people, we hope to create a beautiful project to hopefully be presented at film festivals all around the world.
What is Trattoria?
A modern day adaptation of the Lotus-Eaters story from Greek Mythology.
Logline:
A couple takes a chance on an odd but beautiful restaurant, only to learn looks really can be deceiving.
Synopsis:
Sherman & Jill enter the beautiful restaurant, Trattoria, before going to a play. At the moment they are greeted things are… off. A winter night, full house, and not one jacket in the coat room? Once at the table, they see the menus are blank. The food comes to their table without them ordering and again looks off. Sherman takes a chance but Jill is hesitant. Sherman doesn’t know it but he just surrendered his life to the restaurant. Once Jill sees what is going on she fails in escaping.
What the story is really ABOUT:
In our society, many people are forced and told to live in a certain way. As soon as anyone attempts to change or live in a different way of life, they are cast out.

What we need:
We need your help! Even though we are doing our best to keep costs low, filmmaking can be a very expensive business. Our cast and crew are very generously giving their time and talent for free, there are still certain things that we need to use money for.
Camera: We plan on shooting on 16mm film. Film stock and processing can be fairly expensive.
Lighting: This will be used to make our actors and our set look as beautiful as possible.
Sound: In order to know what our lovely characters are saying, we will need to hire a sound mixer to capture the lines.
Locations: Since we are filming in a restaurant, they will be shutting down to let us shoot there. We would need to pay them for the time they have to be closed.
Catering: Most of our lovely cast and crew members are working for free, we want to be able to provide them with great food on set as compensation for their generosity.
Post-Production: Production is just half the work! The film will only be as good as our post-production team! Once we are done filming, we will hand it off to the editor, sound designer, colorist, and the composer.
Distribution: Now that the film is completed and ready to go, we would really love to send it to as many film festivals as possible. Festival submissions do cost money and in order to send it to multiple festivals and competitions, we would need as many donations as possible. We may even decide to premiere it on a few streaming services, so that you all can see what you helped to create!!
FOR EVERYONE WHO DONATES:
- We will send you a password-protected digital streaming link to the film, a digital poster, and a special thanks credit in the film.
-If you donate more than $3000, we will give you an Executive Producer credit in the film and on IMDB.
-If you donate more than $5000, we can discuss the possibility of a company credit and an Executive Producer credit.
