TRATAMIENTO MÉDICO PARA DANTE

Somos Abelardo y Regina, papás de Bruno y Dante.

Dante tiene 1 año y medio y nació con una mutación genética llamada Síndrome de Allan Herndon Dudley. Como todo síndrome, bastante complejo. El síndrome de Allan Herndon Dudley está causado por mutaciones en el gen SLC16A2 (Xq13.2) que codifica para el transportador de monocarboxilato 8 (MCT8) un transportador específico de la hormona tiroidea T3.

Actualmente no hay muchos avances en el tratamiento médico ni quirúrgico del síndrome debido a que es muy poco común sobre todo en México. Es por eso que estaremos viajando con Dante a Estados Unidos para que se someta al único tratamiento para esta enfermedad que se está estudiando actualmente en todo el mundo.

El tratamiento incluye un monitoreo completo con muchos estudios de laboratorio. Es por eso que los costos del mismo se elevan considerablemente.

We are Abelardo and Regina, parents of Bruno and Dante.

Dante is 1 and a half years old and was born with a genetic mutation called Allan Herndon Dudley Syndrome. As every single syndrome, it is very complex. Allan Herndon Dudley Syndrome is caused by mutations in the SLC16A2 gene (Xq13.2), which encodes for monocarboxylate transporter 8 (MCT8), a specific transporter for thyroid hormone T3.

There is little information of AHDS globally, and especially in Mexico, due to the rareness of the disease. That is why we will be traveling to the US so Dante can undergo the only treatment available right in the world.

This treatment includes a complete monitoring of Dante´s physical functions, which elevates the cost of treatment.
