Hello, my name is Sergio.

Today, I’m fighting for something very simple, yet incredibly important: to keep living and to be there for my family.

In 2019, at 35 years old, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that severely damaged my kidneys. At that time, I had a full and happy life — I was starting my own restaurant, living my dream, and enjoying time with my wife and my two young children.

But everything changed overnight.

After several tests and a kidney biopsy, I began a very difficult journey of treatments, hospitals, and medications. For a while, the disease was under control, but complications eventually caused irreversible damage to my kidneys.

Since then, I have been on hemodialysis for 6 years.

This condition has not only affected my health, but also completely changed my family’s life. When one person becomes chronically ill, the whole family is impacted — emotionally, physically, and financially.

I had to close my restaurant, which was our main source of income, and my wife had to start working to help maintain our health insurance and keep us moving forward.

Today, there is real hope: a kidney transplant.

My wife will be my donor, which is an incredible act of love. But it also means that both of us will go through surgery and recovery at the same time, while our children still depend on us.

The transplant will take place in another city, which brings additional expenses such as travel, lodging, medical tests, medications, and recovery costs. After everything we’ve been through to reach this point, we don’t want to lose this opportunity due to financial limitations.

That’s why today I humbly ask for your help.

Hoy estoy luchando por algo muy simple, pero al mismo tiempo lo más importante: seguir viviendo y poder estar para mi familia.

En 2019, a los 35 años, fui diagnosticado con una enfermedad autoinmune que dañó mis riñones. En ese momento tenía una vida plena: estaba iniciando mi propio restaurante, cumpliendo un sueño, y disfrutando a mi esposa y a mis dos hijos pequeños.

Pero todo cambió de un día para otro.

Después de estudios y una biopsia, comenzó un proceso muy duro de tratamientos, hospitales y medicamentos. Logré controlar la enfermedad durante un tiempo, pero las complicaciones terminaron afectando gravemente mis riñones.

Desde entonces, llevo 6 años en hemodiálisis.

Vivir así no solo impacta mi salud, también ha cambiado completamente la vida de mi familia. Cuando una persona se enferma, toda la familia lo resiente: emocional, física y económicamente.

Tuve que cerrar mi restaurante, que era mi principal fuente de ingreso, y mi esposa tuvo que empezar a trabajar para poder mantener el seguro médico y seguir adelante con todo este proceso.

Hoy, tengo una esperanza real: un trasplante de riñón.

Mi esposa será mi donadora, lo cual es un acto de amor enorme, pero también implica que ambos estaremos en cirugía y recuperación al mismo tiempo, mientras nuestros hijos siguen dependiendo de nosotros.

El trasplante se realizará en otra ciudad, lo que implica gastos adicionales como traslados, hospedaje, estudios, medicamentos y recuperación. Después de todo el esfuerzo que nos tomó llegar hasta aquí, no queremos perder esta oportunidad por falta de recursos.

Por eso hoy me atrevo a pedir ayuda.
