For those who thought it was disgusting when I made my point by eating “garbage” for 2 years, I’m excited to begin work on another significantly more disgusting documentary about food that will bother anyone who eats. The story that this documentary will tell is unlikely to be what you are expecting.

Your donation will get this project moving by helping to finance critical first shoots, interviews and editing for the film. This important work will set the tone of this project. Success now could also lead to larger grants that will further increase the production value of the documentary.
How will this documentary help the community?
My most recent documentary, Trash Empire, has been screened in 4 countries at universities, public libraries, churches, bars, non-profits and even at the World Bank. These free screenings were coupled with discussions that highlighted social and environmental issues and inspired action. When completed, this new documentary will also be made available through similar presentations.
About the Director:
William Reid is a documentary filmmaker who survived on food waste for over two years while producing Trash Empire. He became interested in food justice in 2012 when Houston City Council members attempted to restrict public distribution of food to people in need. He was the first in a series of people at a Houston City Council meeting to speak in support of community food programs, including Food Not Bombs, an organization that recovers and redistributes healthy excess food. Following a move to Washington, DC in 2014, he became a core organizer of Food Not Bombs DC.
