Trapped Abroad by Injustice - Help us back home

We are a Finnish mother and child, stranded in a foreign country—not by choice, but by a legal system that has failed to protect us.

My name is Johanna, and I am fighting to bring my child safely home to Finland.

We are being held in Spain due to a child custody lawsuit built on false and malicious accusations—a case designed not to seek justice, but to control and punish. As the legal system runs its course, we are forced to wait. Powerless.

The court has refused to expedite our hearing from March 2026. We now face another year trapped in limbo—without income, without stability, and without the support of our family back home. My child asks, again and again, to return to Finland—to her home, her family, her language, and the people who love her.

We have not been charged with any crime. The only reason we are being prevented from returning home is the existence of a legal process based on false claims—claims that have already been examined and dismissed by authorities in our homeland, Finland. And yet, despite having done nothing wrong, we remain trapped.

We have followed every rule, respected every procedure, and tried every official route. But the legal system that was meant to protect us has instead locked us in place—not because of justice, but because of inertia. In addition to this stagnant legal standoff, we have been actively seeking diplomatic and human rights intervention. Still, we wait.

We are not just being delayed. We are being denied basic human rights—freedom of movement, the right to family life, and the right to live with dignity and safety.

We are running out of money. We’ve stopped heating in winter. We ration food. We are trying to keep going—but the system is breaking us, slowly and completely.

This fundraiser is our lifeline. We urgently need support to:

• Keep legal representation to protect our rights

• Cover basic living costs: rent, heating, food, medical needs

• Officially translate key documents and advocate through international human rights channels

• Raise awareness and call for intervention from those in power

This is not just a custody matter. This is a human rights transgression.

We are not trying to escape justice—we are fighting to get it in a timely manner.
