Trans* Pride Seattle

Why Give to this Campaign:
Gender Justice League
was excited to receive a $15,292.00 grant from the City of Seattle's Neighborhoods Department match-grant program on April 15th for Trans* Pride Seattle! However, to receive these funds we must raise half of this amount by our event date of June 28th, 2013! With your help we can do it! Double your money by donating, for every dollar you give up to $7,500, the City of Seattle will give us two dollars!! Please check out our video, visit the Trans* Pride Seattle website, and share this campaign with your friends, families, and allies!

About Trans* Pride Seattle - Trans* Pride Seattle is a pride event organized by Gender Justice League in affiliation with Seattle Out & Proud and fiscally sponsored by Gay City Health Project. It will be held in conjunction with other annual LGBTQ pride events in June, and will take place Friday June 28th, 2013 from 5pm to 10pm.

Trans* Pride will include a Trans*Pride march, a schedule of nationally renowned speakers from the trans* community including a Keynote by Julia Serano, author of "Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity", Performances by acts such as comedian Ian Harvey & musician Rae Spoon, and an information & resource fair with organizations that serve and support Trans* and Gender Non-Conforming people.

The Trans* Pride march will include community members that identify as Trans* in some way such as folks who identify as Transgender, Transsexual, Gender Queer, Gender Non-Conforming, Trans Men, Trans Women, Drag Queens and Kings, Cross Dressers, and our Friends, Families, Co-Workers, and of course our allies, friends, families, and partners! The purpose of the march and rally is to raise awareness and support for the Trans* community and to elevate the challenges faced by Trans* and Gender Non-Conforming people in Seattle and more broadly in Washington, the United States, and Internationally.

We are very excited about the speakers that will be participating in this event, who will be addressing issues of gender identity and expression and how they intersect with sexual orientation, race, poverty and class issues, ability, and the many other intersections of identity we all have.
