My name is Shelica. I’m a single parent of three. Two adults, and one child. I have worked all my life up until last year when tragedy hit my family! I’m now a stay at home mom taking care of my second daughter whom this gofundme is for (pictured) Talica Morton. A little bit about her: Talica is 19 years old, graduated from high school, “was” very energetic, “was” a very hard worker, “loved” playing basketball, “loved” doing odd jobs to earn extra money to save up for her first car, and “LOVED” being around family and close friends every day!! Talica always had a corny joke to tell that brought smiles/laughs to brighten any room, which she always did because everyone LOVED her. She obtained her drivers license and purchased her first car all by herself and was very happy. She had plans on moving out of town to pursue her career until life happened and flashed before her eyes from out of nowhere!! Last year in October she was shot from behind in the neck and hand and left for dead!! She ended up paralyzed from head to toe and require 24 hour care, BUT by Gods grace, mercy and favor she is still here!! She has had multiple surgeries, and long stays in the hospital with many more problems due to her situation. She’s currently in therapy in hopes of regaining back everything that was stolen from her (the devil), movement, walking, and talking just to name a few! I’m reaching out to the public in hopes of getting help to get her, her very own wheelchair van to get back and forth to some of her appointments that’s not covered under medical assistance. I’m financially unable to pay for pick up and drop off out of pocket due to unemployment since the tragedy happened. Rite now I’m borrowing a friends van that’s also disabled to get her to and from the appointments when it’s not in use by our friend. Myself and Talica appreciates our friends generosity from the heart!! I don’t want Talica to get kicked out of the system for missed appointments due to no transportation at times beyond our control, and I don’t want to be a burden on anyone. So I’m asking for your help to get her one of her very own (wheelchair van). I/we whole heartedly appreciate any help you can give to help Talica! #TalicaStrong #TeamTalica
