I started this Go Fund Me page to help my dear friend of 16 years, Megan Hayes, with her current rising medical costs. Megan is one of the most caring and deserving people I know in this world. It is very hard for her to ask for help, especially because she is usually the one caring for others. Megan has dedicated her life to helping people through the most challenging moments of their lives, first as an EMT on a local ambulance, then as a Patient Care Assistant at a local children's hospital, and now as a Pediatric Registered Nurse in the emergency room.
Recently, Megan had to stop working to seek treatment for anorexia. Due to a very sudden and rapid onset of symptoms, Megan had to be hospitalized multiple times and has needed the help of several specialists to help her heal. At her team's recommendation, Megan is now at the Denver Acute Eating Disorder Center, where she is able to receive highly specialized care for anorexia.
Despite working in the medical field, Megan's health insurance has a very high deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, and she owes extensive medical co-pays to cover her recent hospitalizations, treatment, and doctor visits. She has had to fly out of state to receive specialized care that is not available near her home, and she has been trying to cover all of these costs plus her rent/utilities/living expenses so she has a safe home to return to after treatment.
I am hoping we can pull together a fund for Megan so she can focus on getting well and returning to her job in the emergency room without the added strain of these financial stressors. Your support, no matter how small, will help keep Megan on the path to recovery.
