I have started a new fundraiser for my friend, Dana Vargas.
As some of you know, Dana was hospitalized for Covid in April (a few weeks before vaccines were available). Though she is lucky to have survived, she did suffer serious damage to her lungs; because she was unable to work, I created a fundraiser in the spring to provide financial assistance. The hope was that she would improve and eventually return to her job. Unfortunately, Dana’s doctors are unable to provide a clear timeline for when or how she will get “better.” She is still struggling with many of the same ailments and returning to work does not seem to be on the horizon any time soon. However, as we know, bills will continue to come every month. Dana cannot rely on fundraisers or other temporary help to keep her afloat indefinitely.
The good news is that once her husband Felix completes his pharmacology exam, he will be able to get a job in his field. Unfortunately, their only car died around the time that Dana entered the hospital this past April. I am therefore starting a separate fundraiser to help them purchase a used car. This car will help with their current situation (lack of a car complicates so many things, including getting prescriptions filled, getting to medical appointments, etc.) and will help put everyone on a better footing when Felix is able to get a job in his field. Please contribute if you can.
