For those of you that may not know I am in need of a liver and kidney transplant. I am starting this fund in hopes to help cover medical and travel expenses to go out of state for the transplants I need.
Since 2009 I have been on the liver transplant list. Over the years my Hepatitis C has damaged my liver which led to liver cirrhosis and now liver failure. In 2013, after undergoing heart clearance to remain on the list, they discovered I needed Triple Heart Bypass surgery. The surgery led to my kidney failure. So now I am also on the Kidney transplant list. Since my kidneys are not working I need to go to dialysis every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This is very draining on my body. My days consist of sitting in a chair for hours while my blood is being filtered. Then I go home with no energy, rest for a day and start all over again. This has been the routine these past 2 years.
As if things weren't bad enough my liver CAT Scan recently showed a 2 centimeter cancerous tumor. So now the clock is ticking and I need a transplant as soon as possible because if the cancer spreads then tranplant is no longer an option.
You are probably thinking why haven't you gotten your transplant? Well according to California's policies I am not sick enough! They go through set lab calculations for a score from the UNOS organ donor system. Unfortunately, California falls into the region of states that have the highest scores needed to be considered for transplant. This is why I am looking into going out of state to another region.
My health has been declining these past 6 months. I have been in and out the hospital so many times. I feel it's time to go another route for treatment. So I am reaching out to family and friends to help me make this journey possible. Going out of state will require flights, hotel, transportation expenses and post transplant medications. Any donation small or large will be extremely appreciated!
