Lenny needs a kidney transplant and is on the National Kidney Registry. Yesterday, Julia underwent invasive surgery to donate one of her kidneys to the Living Donor Registry. By Julia donating a kidney to the Living Donor Registry, a matched living donor kidney will be available for Lenny. Your donation will help pay for the medical bills associated with saving Lenny's life.

As a child, Lenny was injured and underwent an emergency nephrectomy at age 7. Since 2018 Lenny has been in Renal Failure. Lenny and Julia took an aggressive approach to find ways to improve Lenny's health. Lenny lost 45 pounds and began hemodialysis 6 1/2 hours overnight 5 nights a week at home while working 70 hours a week for UPS during the COVID pandemic.

Julia began a proactive plan for her health, she quit smoking in 2019 and lost 95 pounds to qualify as a living donor for the kidney voucher program. Julia was trained as a care partner and followed guidelines for proper operation of the dialysis treatment from start to finish, including equipment setup, needle insertions, responding to and resolving system alarms, and system tear-down after treatment. Lenny and Julia continued to care for 4 children, pets, and their careers while batting his renal failure together.

After an estimated 6 months of recovery, they would like to continue supporting their local community, which they have been local business owners and helped other businesses. Julia and Lenny have plans for the future, including watching their children grow (currently ages 6, 8, 13, & 15), and Julia will complete her BA in Computer Science. Julia and Lenny have a lovely family and appreciate the support of their friends and family.
