Hi,

My name is Josh Deinert and I am fundraising to help cover housing for my post surgery recovery in Jacksonville, Florida. I will be responsible for the cost of housing for 5-7 weeks near the Mayo Clinic where I will be receiving a liver and kidney transplant in the near future. This will allow me and my caretaker room and board during this long initial recovery which must be near the Mayo Clinic for multiple follow up visits and procedures. Due to the nature of organ transplantation I do not have a specific date for surgery. The wait time ranges from several weeks to up to 10 months. I anxiously await “the call”.

In November of 2019, I was diagnosed with severe liver disease and end stage renal failure. This is a terminal illness that is irreversible and the only hope for a longer meaningful life is through transplant. I have been relatively stable the past year and a half but complications are becoming more and more frequent and severe. These include multiple hospitalizations, poor quality of life (in multiple regards), and the inability to lead a normal productive life.

Through the help and support of prayer, family, and friends I have made it this long. I have been working with the Mayo Clinic for the better part of a year setting up and attending consultations, multiple on campus visits and procedures as well as keeping close ties with specialists at home.

I am at the final stretch of this part of my journey to regain my life back and live one which is productive meaningful to not only me but all my friends and family.

I have been blessed with being able be alive this long and I don’t take anything for granted. With the surgery and accompanying aspects come a lot of expenses outside the scope of health insurance and my personal capabilities. This is where I am asking for your help to afford me the opportunity to properly heal and learn my new life style having two new organs. I am excited and scared at the same time for this chapter of the story but I know God has a plan and my faith lies with Him.
